We’re proud to spotlight MARSHALLTOWN Company for their partnership in Marshalltown High School’s 3DE 9.3 Culminating Event, held in December.
As the case partner, MARSHALLTOWN Company challenged ninth-grade 3DE students to apply Critical & Analytical Thinking to a real-world business scenario. Using a Decision Tree, student teams analyzed potential strategies and presented objective, data-informed recommendations on which path the company should pursue and why. Throughout the case experience, students strengthened their ability to evaluate options, consider outcomes, and practice Objective Analysis, a critical skill for future success.
“What stood out most was how increasingly engaged the 9th grade students were as they shared their ideas within the group setting. They worked well as teams, identified tasks and responsibilities, explained their thinking clearly, and showed curiosity and creativity in how they approached the problem,” said one of the MARSHALLTOWN Company volunteers. “It was exciting to see students this early in high school already connecting learning to real-world situations and evolving in how they approach a business problem with a solution their team saw best fit for the challenge at hand.”
This experience would not have been possible without the MARSHALLTOWN Company volunteer judges who generously shared their time and expertise. Their thoughtful feedback and industry insight helped elevate student presentations and made the culminating event both meaningful and memorable.
Thank you to MARSHALLTOWN Company for investing in students and for being a valued partner in preparing the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and problem-solvers. Partnerships like this bring learning to life and demonstrate the powerful impact of community involvement in education.
