During my first days with Junior Achievement of Central Iowa, I had the opportunity to attend the National 3DE Summit in Atlanta alongside leaders, educators and partners from across the country. From the start, it was clear that this wasn’t just a conference; it was a powerful reflection of what 3DE means and the values that drive our work every day.

This year, the summit marked a major milestone for 3DE. The 10-year anniversary of 3DE, a decade of reimagining education through real-world learning, strong partnerships, and a commitment to student success. From the very beginning, the focus was on culture, momentum and the collective effort it takes to keep this work moving forward.

The summit opened with an inspirational reminder of where it all began. Banneker, the very first school to adopt 3DE, kicked things off with their school drum line, setting the tone with energy, pride, and purpose. We also heard from a 3DE alum, bringing the experience full circle and underscoring the long-term impact of this work on students’ lives.

Throughout the summit, breakout sessions helped demonstrate how each of us plays a role in sustaining and growing the momentum behind 3DE. These sessions weren’t just about strategy; they were about connection, shared learning and seeing how our individual efforts contribute to something much larger, leading to greatness.

For me, the timing couldn’t have been better. Being thrown into 3DE right away and having the opportunity to connect in person with the 3DE Marshalltown team was extraordinary. It reinforced why this work matters and how strong relationships fuel real impact.

What stood out most to me was the culture. I left Atlanta feeling inspired, welcomed, and energized to continue learning and growing together. It’s the collaboration between students, educators, businesses, communities, and volunteers that truly makes a meaningful impact. I’m excited to say that 3DE by Junior Achievement represents the future of education, and I am grateful to be a part of the work that helps change lives.
